Laure GOUIN-BRAQUEHAIS (1829-1916), attributed to. Nude Odalisque, before 1855. Stereoscopic daguerreotype finely enhanced in color, made at her husband's studio, 8.5 x 17 cm. Put under glass by Gouin. This odalisque is most probably Pauline Eléonore Kraft. This young woman presented herself as a florist, a profession very close to prostitution under the Second Empire, when she was arrested for posing for Pierre Louis Courier. In 1863, she spent a month in Saint-Lazare prison. She does not appear to have continued modeling after this date. Provenance: Serge Nazarieff Collection, Geneva.
