AGNEAUX (ROBERT et ANTOINE LE CHEVALIER, SIEURS d'), from Vire in Normandy. The works of Q. Horace Flacce, Latin et François, from the translation of Robert & Anthoine le Chevallier d'Agneaux. Paris, Guillaume Auvray, 1588. In-8, full ivory contemporary vellum, spine richly decorated with Eve foliage, boards framed with a double thread. with a medallion in the center, also gilt, in which we read: "François Gobelin" (1st board) and "Rossignol à fin bec" (back board), gilt tr. (Rel. anc.). Title, 7 uncounted ff, 92 pp; title, 68 pp; 68 pp. ORIGINAL EDITION of the translation by the d'Agneaux brothers. The work is decorated with a few lettrines. Text on two columns. The work is divided into three parts: the first contains the odes and epodes. The second part contains the sermons or "satyrs" and the last part contains the epistles. A handsome, well-adjusted copy, in its decorated, well-preserved contemporary binding, with a remarkable spine and the most interesting words inscribed in the medallions on a book of poetry.
