Chagrin-covered handle with double filigree (accident). Brass mounting, plain cap. Four-point hilt with curved quillon. Curved blade with rounded back, counter-edge and carp tongue, hollow sides, engraved, gilded and blued in thirds in a cartouche "Gendarmerie Royale" under crown and signed on the heel "Manufre royale du Klingenthal Coulaux frères".
