He brought minimalism, which wasn't in vogue at the time" - Mode2 Dubbed the "King of Style" by his peers, Dondi White today enjoys worldwide recognition, certainly becoming the most admired graffiti artist. Of African-American and Italian descent, Donald J. White grew up in Brooklyn. Attracted to drawing from an early age, the young boy spent his days sketching in his "Black Books", carnets that he kept for himself. "Nothing was left to chance: neither the lines, nor the colors, nor the final composition. In the 1970s, he began tagging in the streets of New York, paving the way for self-proclaimed "Dondism".
