Yvonne LAURE BELLOT known as YO LAUR (1879-1943) Pair of still lifes: Verseuse aux oignons, Verseuse aux pommes et au confiturier Pastel signed lower left and Pastel stamped Paris Universal Exhibition 1900 on the back (not visible as is) 34 x 27 cm at sight Daughter of Alfred Brunel-Neuville, a famous animal painter, she began drawing and painting with her father, and also took classes with Jean-Léon Gérôme and entered the Beaux-Arts. She excelled in delicate cat paintings. A Freemason and member of the French Resistance, she was deported to Ravensbruck, where her drawings bear witness to the living conditions of the deportees.
