COHEN 422. Le Brun, born 1748, husband of Elisabeth Vigée-Lebrun, was a renowned art dealer who acquired paintings for the King. He was curator of the collections of the Duc d'Orléans and the Comte d'Artois. Among the paintings that passed through his hands reproduced in this collection are works by Berghem, Breughel, Bloemaert, Breughel de Velours, Cuyp, Philippe de Champaigne, Jordaens, Karl du Jardin, Frans Hals, Holbein, Van Goyen, Van der Meulen, Van Loo, Hobbema, Porbus, Rembrandt, Ruysdael, Van Ostade, Teniers, Van Dyck and others.
