Monod, I-5088 /// 215-(1f.). 62 color illustrations by Christian Bérard, phototyped by Duval and stenciled by Beaufumé, including cover, frontispiece, 18 hors texte and 42 in the text. Edition of 1000 copies, this being one of the 20 head copies on Montval (after a single copy), containing three suites of the frontispiece and hors-texte and an original watercolor used for a hors-texte (n°4). Enriched with an original drawing by Galtier-Boissière in Indian ink with red pencil highlights and a signed autograph letter on the false-title To Madame Lavalette / ces histoires d'un monde qu'elle / connait peu / avec le respectueux hommage de / Jean Galtier-Boissière et / Ch. Bérard. An impeccable copy, perfectly bound by Ersé, a binder who does not appear in Fléty but whose talent is not to be doubted. Lining a little faded.
