HAUSER (French school of the mid-19th century) Portrait of a Man of Quality posing against a seascape background, most probably in Corsica, 1853 Oil on canvas, signed and dated lower left and designated on the back on a modern label: "Notre ancêtre corse Bartoli" ("Our Corsican ancestor Bartoli"). The Corsican location is further confirmed by the presence of a Genoese tower in the landscape. Minor accidents, some old restorations, cross-mark on stretcher. 97 x 72 cm
