Alasdair COOKE (b. 1969): Carved, lacquered four-legged oval coffee table with gilded and green foliage motif, birds on two uprights. Monogrammed DM. Signed under the top and annotated Atelier 8. Born in 1969 in Ripon, UK, after studying sculpture and jewelry at Preston University, Lancashire, Alasdair Cooke worked alongside French artist André Dubreuil in London, with whom he continued his collaboration when he moved to Paris in 1994. His elaborate use of lacquer and patina makes each of his creations a genuine piece of sculptural furniture.
