First edition of 1,000 copies on "Arnold" watermarked wove paper. A famous literary pastiche: Mrs. Chan-Toon, a colorful character of Irish origin, manages to pass off a play of her own creation as a rediscovered work by Oscar Wilde. For Love of the King was thus included in Methuen's collective edition as a supplement. The deception was immediately exposed by Wilde's bibliographer. A fine copy, complete with restored dust jacket. Handwritten bookplate of Julia Bird, 1924.
