Edmond ROSTAND. L'Aiglon. Drama in six acts, in verse, first performed at the Théâtre Sarah-Bernhardt, March 15, 1900. Paris, Librairie Charpentier et Fasquelle, 1900. In-8: green morocco, ribbed spine decorated with gilt roulette and cold-stamped boxes, cold-stamped fillet on covers, gilt fillet on edges, green morocco inner frame decorated with gilt roulette, gray silk lining and endpapers, untrimmed, gilt head, illustrated cover and spine preserved (Tévy). First edition. Features a frontispiece portrait by Louise Abbema. Cover decorated by René Lalique with a gold embossed eagle. One of 180 copies on japon (n° 120). Autograph letter signed on the title page: for Monsieur Charles Leboucq, / sympathetically / Edmond Rostand / Travailler à sa table étroite, travailler / Pour être chaque jour plus digne de régner / L'Aiglon Charles Leboucq (1866-1959), future deputy of the Seine, wrote a doctoral thesis in law: De la contrefaçon des oeuvres littéraires ou dramatiques (1897).
