BLANC Louis (1811-1882).L.A.S. "Louis Blanc l'un des deux rédacteurs en chef du Bon Sens", Paris February 10, 1836: 2 pages in-4 headed Le Bon Sens, journal de la démocratie." We grant no one the right to question our sincerity and deny our patriotism. The author of this letter has been writing in Le Bon Sens for over two years. And he knows all about the criticisms made of the fickleness of this newspaper, which has remained scrupulously faithful to its origins. [...] Of all the newspapers, Le Bon Sens has made the most sacrifices for the people, and has been the most self-sacrificing in its propaganda work. He rejects as an insult the Bourse's accusation of patriotism, whereas he receives letters of support "from patriots who are also workers [...] And certainly instead of the work, fatigue and sorrow of all kinds to which the defense of a holy cause exposes us, it is consoling for us to acquire more and more this conviction: that it is not the recognition of Peoples as it is the recognition of kings"...3 L.A.S. by E.X. are enclosed. Poisson de LA CHABEAUSSIÈRE (1811, to Stanislas Champein), LAMOTHE-LANGON (1830, to M. Sclesinger) and SULLY-PRUDHOMME (1896).
