Balzac recounts his fall at his property in Les Jardies.
"My dear Madame Delannoi, I've just had a rather deplorable little accident, I sprained my Achilles tendon and the nerves that wrap my ankle, in a fall on slippery ground, and I'm condemned to stay in bed for at least ten days, in the countryside, without being able to move, on pain of being injured for the rest of my days, so no Wednesday! Forgive me for being so unfortunate, it happened at a very bad time for my business. one of your children Honoré".
