Paul Soyer

Price on request

Paul SOYER, a fireplace insert in the spirit of the Renaissance. The mantel set consists of a clock and two cassolettes, created around 1875. Each piece features a subtle combination of gilded and silvered bronze and painted enamels. Each cassolette is decorated with bronze putti in the round, as well as portraits of Renaissance figures. The central clock, with its rich architectural decor, is decorated with painted enamel panels depicting a grotesque mask and two cherubs framing a flower vase. Paul Soyer was one of the most important enamellers of the 19th century. A similar model dating from 1875 is in the Musée d'Orsay.
