North India, 19th century, Ramdao or traditional sword used for animal sacrifices. The curved steel blade is finely chased with geometric motifs and friezes. The tip reveals an engraved eye, symbolizing the presence of the goddess Kali who watches over the sacrifice. The wooden handle is covered in brass and steel. N.B.
