KING'S BODYGUARD SUPERIOR OFFICER'S SABER 1ST MODEL. Handle covered in shagreen with gilded filigree. Richly chased and gilded brass mounting. Long-tailed pommel decorated with a fleur-de-lys. Guard with four chased branches, one decorated with oak leaves, holding the Grandes Armes de France on four flags and a background of flags. Spectacular curved blade, signed at the heel "Coulaux frères" and "Manuf de Klingenthal", engraved, gilded and blued with half knight in arms, Grand Armes de France, foliage, radiant face, trophies of arms and "Gardes du corps du Roi". Black leather scabbard with three gilded brass fittings, stamped "B" spangled by Borson, Inspector (1814-1816) and "7". Asymmetrical iron stinger. B.E. (wear). 1st Restoration period.
