Suite of five molded and carved wooden armchairs with basket-handle backs, the shafts decorated with carved flowers. Louis XV period Two of them stamped I. GOURDIN Dim. 97 x 67 x 66 cm approx. Red and beige fabric upholstery Restorations and reinforcements, several weakened legs, one with broken and glued back legs, one with damaged uprights. Jean-Baptiste Gourdin, received his master's degree on March 26, 1748, from a famous Parisian cabinetmaking family, was the eldest son of Jean Gourdin (known as Gourdin Père). Like his father, he set up shop on rue de Cléry, producing high-quality pieces, notably for the Prince de Soubise. The Musée des Arts Décoratifs conserves an armchair from his production, and the English royal collections house a series of 10 chairs bearing his stamp at Windsor Castle.
