Jean-Baptiste Gourdin, received his master's degree on March 26, 1748, from a famous Parisian cabinetmaking family, was the eldest son of Jean Gourdin (known as Gourdin Père). Like his father, he set up shop on rue de Cléry, producing high-quality pieces, notably for the Prince de Soubise. The Musée des Arts Décoratifs conserves an armchair from his production, and the English royal collections house a series of 10 chairs bearing his stamp at Windsor Castle.
