SIGISMOND III of POLAND and IV of LITHUANIA (1587-1632) 10 DUCATS 1621 FRAPPE A VILNIUS (34 gr 62) PCGS TO 50 (TOP-POP) This remarkable coin was minted in a very small number at the time. In his important work on Lithuanian coins, Mr. IVANAUSKAS, the foremost specialist on the subject, describes 11 coins of 10 ducats, including 2 examples from 1621. He also attests to the presence of 10 ducat 1621 coins in the HUTTEN CZAPSKI, CESNULIS and TARASKA collections. In January 2023, two examples from the TARASZKA collection, dated 1618 and 1622, were sold by STACKS-BOWERS in the USA. Mr. IVANAUSKAS points out that no Lithuanian museum owns this 10 ducat 1621. According to PCGS, our coin does not appear in any major numismatic sales and is the only one graded. Until 1569, the Ukraine belonged to Lithuania, then, under the Treaty of Lublin of the same year, it came under the dominion of Poland. the same year, it came under the domination of the Polish-Lithuanian republic. The system known as "golden freedom of Golden Freedom" is, despite its name, a monarchical system controlled by a Diet made up of 134 Polish and and 48 Lithuanian seats. The first king of this "Republic" was Henri III, King of France, from 1573 to 1574. SIGISMOND III of Poland and IV of Lithuania reigned from 1587 to 1632. The Lithuanian mintage of this coin is extremely rare in terms of size and value. In France, we were unable to produce coins of this size at the same time.
