IIMPORTANT NAIN RUG (Iran, Shah era, circa 1970)
In wool and silk.
Silky lambswool velvet, inlaid flowers surrounded by silk on foundations: cotton warp, weft and fringe. Ivory field decorated with scrolls of fine curvilinear stems, crenellated in twists with palmettes and geometrically stylized fish-shaped foliage, adorned with a large round central rosette with a finely drawn floral crown in shades of sky and navy blue.
beautifully framed with strings of flowering plants.
Triple borders, the main one beige with interlacing floral bulbs. Surrounded by lacy foliage. Density. Approx. 7000 knots per dm2
