LOUIS BLÉRIOT, autograph speech 7. JULIETTE FARMAN, one letter. Details: 1. BLÉRIOT. 9 letters to his wife Alice, known as "Liette", signed "Louis" or "Louis Blériot". "Liette chérie". 1904 (one); February 3-September 9, 1918) (5); undated (3). He talks about his factories, his aerodrome at Buc near Versailles, his projects, his new engines. He has found a good test pilot named Bardenier. Bréguet and Caudron came to see the engines. The weather was not favorable for flight testing. On another occasion, the "4 moteurs" flew for twenty minutes. His telephone line was finally restored. Echoes of Parisian life, dinners and meetings, about his son Loulou... "We're very busy at the moment. There's a lot of talk at the moment about bombing planes. Perhaps one day I'll be back on the water; in any case, I think I'll be quite a bit ahead of schedule...". Because of the risk of bombing in 1918, Paris was in absolute darkness at night. 2. MME LOUIS BLÉRIOT, 64 autograph letters signed "Ta Liette" to her husband Louis Blériot. Loving correspondence filled with comments on daily life and also more serious information. "At the air league last night, it was decided to maintain the Pic prize, for which Paris has sent the regulations. In today's Gironde it is said that on Tuesday the Tissandier engine absolutely refused to work and the sortie had to be postponed...". "I'm glad you sold an engine. It always brings in a bit of money...". She saw that Louis Blériot had been appointed to the flying club's board of directors. "It's a new HAPPINESS for me". She reports that a loud engine noise was heard above the house. It was the English pilot John Cunningham, about to land in the meadow next door! 3. LOUIS BLÉRIOT (son of the aviator), 14 autograph letters to his mother Mme Louis Blériot signed "Loulou". Very charming, very witty, these letters are written from an English college (Beaumont after Windsor) and from the Collège Stanislas in Paris: reports on small events, judgments on people... 4. LÉONCE PEILLARD (man of letters), 16 autograph letters, signed "Léonce" to "Simone chérie" (Simone Blériot-Rubel, daughter of Louis Blériot). He regularly declares his love, gives details of his literary activity, and attaches newspaper clippings reporting on his books. 5. THREE LETTERS OF CONDOLENCE addressed to Louis Blériot's family after his death in 1936. 6. LOUIS BLERIOT. Autograph speech delivered to the Minister of Air, Pierre Cote in 1933 (or 1934) at Challes-les-Eaux. 7. JULIETTE FARMAN, wife of an aviator and aircraft manufacturer, a letter, circa 1939, to her "dear friend". The state of Paris on the eve of foreign invasion, arrangements to be made, bottles of champagne and cognac to be collected to comfort the squads around Paris. "I'm trying to replace you at the aeroclub, as there's no one there... Madame J.... slaps on the Jews and pampers them when she's with them...". Attached to these documents are 12 small-format photographs: Louis Blériot, his parents, relatives and officials, Louis Blériot's reserve officer (second lieutenant) identity card (the son, Loulou?) with photograph (October 1926); 4 envelopes on the letterhead of "Blériot aéronautique"; 13 in-4 sheets of watermarked stationery headed in color by "Blériot Aéronautique, fondateur Louis Blériot, fournisseur des ministères de la Guerre et de la Marine des gouvernements étrangers, à Suresnes..." with early airplane in flight (1909).
