1960 AUSTIN HEALEY SPRITE Serial number AN5L47359 Full restoration Italian registration Presented to the press at the 1958 Monaco Grand Prix, the Sprite was greeted with a chorus of praise. This Austin-Healey "frogeye" did not go unnoticed. Packed with charm, it's a car made for fun, as presented in a BMC advertisement for the American market, "The fun-tastic Sprite"... In 1956, Leonard Lord discussed the idea with Donald Healey. The car's design would be simple, and the mechanics would come from a mass-produced car. The Sprite is an ultra-light, agile sports car. Its small size and the unusual shape of its first version, with a front end adorned with the famous frog's eyes, gave it a sympathetic side accentuated by a grille that gave it a huge smile. If ever a car had a face, this is it! All curves, almost symmetrical front and rear, handleless doors, it reflects the toy par excellence. It's got everything you need to have fun. This car attracts sympathy to an incredible degree: you'd think the Frogeye's smile was contagious. With this fully restored model, you can take advantage of this popularity, letting the car go gently, elbow to the door, enjoying the soft air, the wind in your hair and serene comfort. At the wheel, you'll notice a broad smile on your face. Like almost all of our production, this car was sold new in the USA, where it was fully restored before its purchase by its current owner, who imported it to Italy. As a result, it is presented in near-new condition, with all upholstery, undercarriage, running gear and soft top redone. Having covered very few kilometers since its restoration, the brakes will have to be adjusted, as the technical inspection revealed an imbalance in the brakes. The mechanics work perfectly, and the roadholding of this little car is surprisingly efficient. 1960 AUSTIN HEALEY SPRITE Serial number AN5L47359 Full restoration Italian registration Presented to the press at the 1958 Monaco Grand Prix, the Sprite was greeted with a chorus of praise.
