Athletics/Marathon/Cabu/Confortes. Poster for the play "Le marathon de Claude Confortes". This 3-act play by the sparkling Claude Confortes (1928-2016) was a big hit in 1974. It was theater in motion, with the three heroes, aptly named Livarot Ducasse, Nazaire Rimbaud and Jules Nerval, declaiming the text while running around the audience, a feat in which the author took part. The trio philosophized on life, on the little avatars of a calvary, and on a sport that was still a bit of a sport, one being a farm laborer, the other a metallurgist, the last a clerk...Silkscreen on canvas, Imprimerie Moderne du Lion. 76X56.5. Seen by Cabu, the three medallists ended up on their knees, and the rainbow of colors adds to their distress. The winner, with his musette bag slung over his shoulder, barely has the strength to raise his arms, and the third to stick out his tongue.
