[GUÉMADEUC (Baudouin de)]. L'Espion dévalisé. London, s.n., 1782. In-8, bradel cardboard, red title page, red edges (Modern binding).
Dictionnaire des œuvres érotiques, p. 170. - Drujon, I, p. 331.
First edition, printed by Mirabeau, of this potpourri of indiscretions and political or private revelations attributed to Baudoin de Guémadeuc (1734-1817), former maître des requêtes, disgraced, it is said, for having stolen silver cutlery from the table of the Garde des Sceaux.
It contains economic and political information on Minister Turgot, the ousting and arrest of Fouquet, etc., as well as tasty anecdotes such as Diderot's trips to the "brothel" in the company of Buffon, Montesquieu and President de Brosses, or banker Peixotte's sexual whims with Dervieux.
Margins of folio O8 restored.
