A rare first collective edition of the literary works of Olympe de Gouges (1748-1793), a leading figure of feminism in France.
Dedicated to the Duc d'Orléans and the Prince de Condé, it comprises the following pieces, originally printed separately: Zamore et Mirza ou l'heureux naufrage (a dramatic play denouncing slavery, which later became L'Esclavage des Noirs), followed by Réflexions sur les hommes nègres, Le Mariage inattendu de Chérubin, L'Homme généreux, Le Philosophe corrigé ou le cocu supposé, Molière chez Ninon ou le siècle des grands hommes, the novel Mémoires de Madame de Valmont and the tale Bienfaisance ou la bonne mère.
