Note: A member of the Société nationale des beaux-arts and the Pastel Society in London, he was appointed official painter to the French Navy on September 27, 1900. The artist settled in Concarneau in 1903, establishing himself as the "painter par excellence of Brittany's markets and ports". He presided over the Fête des Filets Bleus committee and was an ardent defender of the walled city. The artist represented Brittany extensively; he remains one of the most representative painters of the "Concarneau group". He produced a number of color etchings inspired by the maritime world, printed by Eugène Delâtre.
