Eugène de BEAUHARNAIS (1781-1824) son of Empress Joséphine, Viceroy of Italy. L.A., this 28th [December 1820? to Étienne Soulange-Bodin] and P.A. from the latter, Pensions, 1821; title and 6 fol. pages (slight wetness). 28 letters and documents enclosed. "I am resending your latest work. I am delighted with the explanation that took place and especially with the way it ended. I didn't think you were such a good diplomat. But don't let us meet like Figaro. We'll explain later"... Soulange-Bodin drew up the "State of Pensions for 1821", with the holders, the amount, the sums paid or remaining to be paid. The first holders are the Marquis de Beauharnais, Count Méjan, Rose Tascher... It is noted: "The remainder of the year will be paid through the intermediary of Gal Triaire, with whom I have a current account, & on presentation of my engagement, end of Xbre, subscribed in favor of Mr Méjan, to facilitate his release at the time of his departure from Paris. He will no doubt come to an agreement with Mr. D'Arnay, for the continuation of these same engagements"...
