ARTOIS. Manuscript, Remarques sur plusieurs articles de la coutume d'Artois avec quelques questions de droit et de pratique par Me G.F. Hebert conseiller au conseil provincial d'Artois avec differentes nôtes de Mr Rouget avocat, [circa 1770] ; volume in-fol. of 581 pages, contemporary speckled basane binding, ribbed spine adorned with fleurons (head and spine caps worn).
Commentary on articles 1 to 201 of the coutume d'Artois, corresponding to the final codification of 1669. This study by Guillaume-François Hébert was never printed, but a dozen handwritten copies are known to exist. The present manuscript consists of a title page, a "Préliminaire" of 8 notes (pp. 3-10), numbered remarks on each article of the custom (pp. 10-503), and a detailed, analytical table of contents (pp. 505-581).
