[Ernest MOUCHEZ]. Carlota MOUCHEZ née Finat (1843-1931) wife of the admiral. 9 L.A.S., 1892, to her daughters Marguerite and Marie; 30 pages in-8 (mourning). Ernest Mouchez's last voyage. In February and March 1892, Ernest Mouchez made a final trip to Algeria and Italy, accompanied by his wife and their two youngest daughters, Berthe and Fernande. This trip enabled him to meet relatives in Algeria: his brother Frédéric-Valentin Mouchez, and his seven children. This branch of the Mouchez family owned farms in the communes of Palestro (Lakhdaria), Isserville (Isser) and Draâ El Mizan, all located in Grande Kabylie. The present correspondence, written from Algiers, Constantine, Biskra, Naples, Rome, etc., was intended for the couple's two other daughters who remained in France, Marguerite (Margot) Fehrenbach and Marie Lachelier: arrival in Algiers, trip to El Biar to meet an old acquaintance, trip to and settlement in Chabet el Ameur (Isserville commune), work on the family farm, excursion to Blida, arrival in Constantine then Biskra, stays in Naples and Rome. There are also references to the family, in particular Margot's husband, the chemist Georges Fehrenbach, a collaborator of Alfred Nobel. The last letter, written from Turin after Ernest Mouchez's death on June 25, 1892, refers to a further stay in Italy in September of the same year.
