To an editor of the Revue générale des sciences pures et appliquées , about the book Transformations linéaires by Burali-Forti and Marcolongo: "As for the analysis you do me the honor of requesting, it would not be possible for me to think about it at present, being absorbed by other commitments with a fixed deadline. As it is, however, a book that I believe to be interesting and that I intend to study seriously, if, by that time, no one has yet reported on it in the Revue, I shall be quite happy to do so myself to the extent moderately adopted by the Revue's contributors"...
