[Maurice BELLONTE]. Set relating to the feat of the first East-West transatlantic flight, achieved by Costes and Bellonte on September 2 and 3, 1930. Interesting set of Costes and Bellonte's transatlantic flight. Vintage photo of the Question Mark in flight, taken in July 1930 after a day of testing, annotated by Bellonte: "This same photo illustrated the book by R. Weiss and more detailed in the clouds less dark sky. Page 35"; and on the back "Photo belonging to M. Bellonte to be returned to him personally" (13.5 x 20 cm); plus another period photo, in negative, of the route forecast, made on August 31 and valid until September 2 at 9 pm. (20 x 25 cm). Folder containing some twenty sheets of autograph notes on engine and aircraft tests carried out in 1929 and 1930. "Preparation for the Atlantic. The engine delivered and installed [...]. Tests to be carried out with 0.775 mixture [...]". "Costes aircraft (geared engine) 24/5/29 climb to 5000m [...]. Direct engine 10/6 climb to 5000 Propeller 71 N°14. 11/6 climb to 5000 Propeller 77 N°18"...; calculation tables and notes, list of on-board spare tooling; "March 12 Le Bourget ADDT Goliath Dry run about 50 seconds after departure, seizure and distribution rupture"...; test and breakdown reports, etc.., as well as a series of 10 oblong in-fol. typewritten tables reporting on tests carried out on the Costes 61 engine on June 21 and 22, 1930. Invitation from the University Club of New York (Sept. 9, 1930), Aero-Club of Oregon membership card (signed M. F. Wright, Sept. 26, 1930), American Legion card (Oct. 1, 1930). Brochure: Senate reception for aviators Costes & Bellonte, November 5, 1930; plus mimeographed typescript, with corrections, of speech by M. Gaston Ménier, President of the Senate Aviation Group. Letter from the Lille radiotelephone station to Mrs. Costes about the remote interview experiment carried out on this occasion (Sept. 6, 1930); plus press clippings and prospectus from the Société Française Radio-Électrique: Le raid Paris-New York de Costes et Bellonte et la T.S.F.". Fragment of a typescript with Bellonte's annotations: "But on August 31, the weather situation on the ocean was clearly favorable"... Documents detailing the list of recipients of the book on the Atlantic crossing. Letter from the American Embassy (Commander Walsh) with a map "that you wanted to use for your transatlantic voyage" (map of New York and surrounding area enclosed, annotated in red pencil and graphite). 3 congratulatory letters (including one from the National Aeronotic Association of U.S.A. dated Sept. 3, 1930), and another addressed to Dieudonné Costes (Montreal, Sept. 6) Invitation card from Louis Bréguet (non-nominative) for the ceremony honoring the return of Costes and Bellonte to the Bréguet factories in Villacoublay (Oct. 28, 1930). - Typewritten draft contract with handwritten corrections, between Costes and Bellonte, for the formation of a non-trading company "whose purpose is to operate an air trip over the Atlantic Ocean, North line, East to West, Paris to New York". An important set of press clippings, most of them devoted to the 1930 transatlantic crossing.
