Joseph Chaumet was a major precursor of Art Deco jewelry as early as the 1910s. Chaumet showcased this style at the World's Fairs from 1925 to 1937.
In 1930, the year of this lovely ribbon bracelet's creation, Chaumet celebrated its fiftieth anniversary. Despite the difficult economic climate caused by the stock market crash of 1929, Chaumet resisted and rose to the challenge of modernity. Combining fashion and elegance, this jewel is an example of jeweler's savoir-faire expressed in the line setting of its diamond pavings alternating with cylindrical emeralds engraved in gadroons.
