London & Paris, Bauche, 1777. 17 x 10 cm, lvi-348 pp. ; (4)-346 pp. ; (4)-296 pp. ; (4)-366 pp. Bound in full speckled brown calf, spines decorated with gilt irons, red morocco titles and endpapers. Worn bindings, leather missing from the lower spine of two volumes, upper covers missing on two volumes, corners dulled. Very fair condition. Illustrated by GRAVELOT with 16 off-text engraved figures, one of which is placed in the frontispiece of Volume 1. The translation is by Pierre Antoine De La Place (1707-1793). The figures are from the best period of Gravelot, who lived in London for a long time and was familiar with daily life in England at the time. Set of 4 volumes.
