ALFA ROMEO MONTRÉAL 1972 Type: 10564 Chassis number: 1426725 Engine number: AR00564*01263* Engine: ALFA 33 90° V8 front engine, 2,593 cm3 (Ø cyl. 80 x 64.50), 230 hp at 6,500 rpm. Gearbox: 5-speed ZF manual, coupled to the engine. Drives the rear wheels via a shaft and rigid axle with autoblocker. Speed approx. 220 km/h. Mileage: 70,087 km on the odometer. Registration: French, 15 HP - 2 seats. Technical inspection: none. Condition: Non-running, immobilized for almost 10 years. The Alfa Romeo Montréal is a sports coupé based on a styling study by Marcello GANDINI, then an employee of the BERTONE master workshop. The car was presented at the 1967 Montreal World's Fair. The aim was to create and exhibit "man's highest automotive aspiration". The production version, although very close to the lines of the two prototypes, is fundamentally different. One of the prototypes can still be seen at the Alfa Romeo Museum in ARESE, near MILAN. In fact, Alfa Romeo used the chassis of the existing Giula coupé, commonly referred to as the BERTONE by Alfa enthusiasts. Between 1970 and 1974, 3,925 examples were produced. Our car dates from 1972 and was used as a demonstration vehicle by Alfa Romeo France. Purchased in 1974 by its first and only private owner from the BELFORT dealer known at the time for running FERRARI 250 TDS. A rare Bianco Zagato color identical to that of the 1967 prototype, it is absolutely original and never restored (original rocker panels, original upholstery...). Untraceable in this condition for a Montreal and any other Italian car from the 70s, which were reputed to have already rusted away on the factory lots. It has original mileage and was last serviced by well-known specialist DESSONET in MULHOUSE. This vehicle has been idle since 2015, and needs to be restarted. The appraisal report, the original driving and maintenance booklet and the history file are enclosed.
