Born under the Occupation, the Renault 4 CV symbolizes the popular car of the post-war era. It is also the marker of the automated car industry and mass consumption. The 4 CV découvrable made its first appearance at the 1949 Paris Motor Show, as the R1060 type with a displacement of 760 cm3. A year later, starting with the 747 cm3 R1062 model, the 4 CV découvrable received body reinforcements in the form of sheet-metal triangles placed in the upper corners of the hood opening. Available only in the chrome-rich "Grand Luxe" finish, it appears to be an elaborate version of the 4CV. Most of the 9,518 examples of this model were built between 1951 and 1952. Our example features descending front windows, a dashboard clock, original light-brown interior and a new soft top. The engine has been replaced on the basis of the Renault production and dating certificate.
