EGYPT, New Kingdom, c.1550-1069 B.C. Arched stele depicting a standing Pharaoh, wearing a short loincloth and a blue crown. He makes offerings with globular vases to the god Sobek, in the form of an anthropomorphic crocodile. Limestone H. 49 cm - L. 32 cm. A few scratches and chips, especially at the edges. Provenance: Purchased in Cairo by René BOURGADE, Secretary General of the French Cultural Center, serving from 1970 to 1975. A photographic print, from a slide dated 1973, will be given to the buyer.
