37- FA (Pol de). Le Perdreau. Nouvelle méthode d'élevage. Paris, Firmin-Didot, s.d. (1898), in-8, cherry half-chagrin, ribbed spine, gilt head, cover preserved (Ateliers Laurenchet). Very rare booklet. Thiébaud, 387. Ex-libris Charles Francis George Richard Schwerdt (1862-1939), a famous English collector who assembled a very important collection of books, manuscripts and engravings relating to hunting (coursing, falconry, etc.). His library was the largest of its kind assembled in England, and one of the most important in the world. We owe him an important bibliography on hunting: Hawking, Hunting, Shooting, illustrated in a catalog of the collection of books, manuscripts, prints and drawings collected by CFGRS [London, 3 vols. published in 1928, plus a fourth volume published in 1937]. His library was sold by Sotheby's from May to July 1939, and again on July 15, 1946. The bookplate was probably taken from his copy, which had to be rebound.
