Paris, Louis Hachette, 1863, in-8, with 17 compositions in the text, green half-chagrin, spine ribbed and decorated with cold filets, single cold filet on the boards, speckled edges (period binding). Corners bumped, brown spots.
First edition. The Proudhonian journalist Benjamin Gastineau (1823-1904) had first-hand experience of Algeria after Louis-Napoléon's coup d'état: he was deported there in 1852 for his opposition.
