Tapestry depicting "La laitière" from the "Jeux Russiens" hanging, after Jean-Baptiste Leprince (1734-1781) Manufacture Royale de Beauvais, under the direction of entrepreneur André-Charlemagne Charron (1753-1780), 2nd half of the 18th century. This country scene, like the other subjects of the hanging: the Musician, the Meal, the Dance, the Bird Hunt and the Fortune Teller, offers an idealized interpretation of country amusements. The Musée des Tapisseries in Aix-en-Provence holds a similar tapestry. H: 2.90 m - W: 1.70 m Wool and silk, good condition, minor restorations, lined. Bibliography : J. Badin.
