Attic black-figure lekythos, workshop of Bowdoin painter. 475 - 450 BC. H 27,2cm, ø 10,2cm. Body covered in black. On the shoulder elegant palmette decoration. Tiny chips on muzzle and foot, painting rubbed off in rear lower area, otherwise intact. Formerly in the private collection of German painter Eugen Batz (1905 - 1986). Painter and photographer Eugen Batz began his studies at the Bauhaus in Dessau in 1929. A student of Josef Albers, Joost Schmidt, Walter Peterhans, Wassily Kandinsky and above all Paul Klee, he became an important representative of abstract painting in Germany.
