FIRST EDITION OF CHAMPOLLION'S SPECTACULAR HIEROGLYPHIC ATLAS. 3 (of 4) full-page volumes ( 70.5 x 52.2 cm ), fawn half-calf with corners. From the A. Ramel library, with bookplate. The autographed descriptions appeared separately in 1844 ( Blackmer, 309 - Brunet, I, 1780 ). This copy contains 382 plates out of 397, of which some fifteen are colored or printed in color. Incomplete copy of the first volume, published ten years earlier, and of some fifteen plates. Worn bindings, spines missing, spotting, foxing and spotting on plates.
