A wooden brush pot and a steatite scholar's rock, China, late 19th/early 20th century The brush pot, rectangular in cross-section, with carved decoration of four medallions, containing a bird on a prunus branch, a dragon and a phoenix, surrounded by Greek friezes, and a steatite rock carved in light relief of landscapes, on one side a scholar and his servant, on the other a lake scene with boats. Minor dents and scratches (soapstone). The pot H. 10 cm, the stone H. 8 cm L. 11 cm [2]
