"Oh! que son jeune coeur soit paisible et repose,
May nothing sadden her darkened blue eyes!
For her smile or tears without cause!
For me the real worries!
For me sacrifice and its burning vigil,
The silence and boredom of expressing nothing,
Like the novice lover who thinks it's wonderful
That one day someone will love him!
For me to no longer read on her pale face
The stormy signs of a celestial future!
For her the treasures of melancholy,
The peace of remembrance;
Remorseless sleep with the faithful swarm
And light dreams of fearless love!
Love! golden bee! oh all the honey for her,
And the sting for me!"
