General bibliography on the artist:
Caroline Juler, Les orientalistes de l'école italienne, ACR édition, Paris, 1992.
The Italian painter Bartolini studied at the Accademia di San Luca with Tarenghi and Ferrari. He then moved to the Nardi studio at 48 via Margutta in Rome, where he developed the characteristics of Italian Orientalism. With its clarity of color, transparency of watercolor and meticulous attention to detail, Carpet Merchants in a Cairo Street is highly characteristic of Bartolini's art.
