In addition to animal sculpture, Barye was also interested in the applied arts, creating here a pair of nine-light candelabra supported by Venus, Minerva and Juno and surmounted by three chimeras. The same composition, embellished with the Three Graces, forms the mantelpiece surrounding the group of An- gelique and Roger. Once again, Barye uses the three seated goddesses to support a crystal bowl, forming a tabletop element.
