CHU UROZ (Barcelona, 1960). Toy 2r. Vinyl, needles and resin. With die-cut Toy 2R stamp on the base. Measurements: 22 x 13 x 10 cm. Qee is a line of designer dolls created by the founder and president of Toy2r, Raymond Choy. Born in 2002 in Hong Kong, Quee has revolutionised the world of design, introducing contemporary art into the vinyl toy market. Under the slogan "Everyone can design", Choy's identifying idea has brought together the creations of important artists from all over the world, from Eugenio Merino, Emilio García, Albert Pinya or Elenza Monzo, to Chu Uroz, Manuel Ocampo or Max Ripo. In this way, each artist expresses on these dolls - a particular "3D canvas" - his or her way of understanding the world. These curious characters are available in various sizes including 1.5", 2.5", 8", 16", 36" and the 60" Qee. Toy2r also provides D.I.Y (Do It Yourself) Qees for aspiring designers. They are articulated, as they move the head, arms and legs. Since its birth, Toy2r has received numerous internationally renowned awards around the world, making it a leading firm in design toys. Trained at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona and also at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura del Vallés, Chu Uroz decided to specialise in Industrial Design at the Elisava school. In 1992 he participated in the artistic direction and costume design of the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games in Barcelona'92. That same year he received the La Peseta de Oro award from His Majesty the King, for his complete and diverse collaboration in the events of Barcelona'92. He worked in production design/art direction on several films by Bigas Luna, such as Jamón-Jamón, the preparation of Huevos de Oro, Yo soy la Juani, Didi Hollywood, Comedias Bárbaras and the artistic piece Gaudir - Nueva. Chu Uroz has also been involved in the world of fashion, as president of MODA FAD Barcelona. He also demonstrated pioneering work in the 1990s, developing new ways of printing garments, bringing the world of graphic design closer to the world of fashion. He has recently founded Union Studios Garage, a multidisciplinary studio with which he faces new challenges and collaborations.
