NEVERS, end of XVIIIth century. Earthenware plate with contoured edge decorated in grisaille of naval battle. (Accident). Diam: 23 cm. This plate probably relates the heroic battle of the warship "the people's avenger" against an English squadron while escorting a convoy of wheat from America to supply France. A sculpture was erected by the Directory in honor of the victims of the ship at the Pantheon.
