Manufacture Paul HANNONG in STRASBOURG, middle XVIIIth. Two earthenware pot-pourri vases and two lids composed of a baluster vase godronné, near a tree with a bird and resting on a rocky base, with decoration said in "mixed technique", in manganese, blue, green and ochre with insects in flight and flowers, one with restoration with the body and the base; the two with some restorations with the trees, small chips and scratches H. : about 17.5 cm. Condition report: As described in the catalog; 1st (with bird on the right side of the vase) : -body: restorations (with probably some plaster replacements) include: the upper part of the vase which has probably been broken into several pieces and restored (the restoration has yellowed and should be redone; the surface is about 9 x 3.5 cm.); part of the base inside the tree stump (triangular surface about 4 x 6 cm.); the five branches with terminal sections (about 2.5 cm. long for the largest); another section inside the tree stump (a node on the reverse) is also restored. The bird's beak has small chips. -Cover: small chips mainly on the reverse of the border; the largest measures about 1 x 0.3 cm. wide, and two chips with small retouching. 2nd (with bird on left side of vase): -Body: all branches and a section of the top of the tree stump have been restored with possibly plaster replacements (the largest restored portion of a branch measures about 4.5 cm. long); two of these (the restored branches) have been broken off and glued back on. The restored portion of the tree stump measures about 4 x 1.5 cm wide. The bird's beak has small chips. -Lid: five small chips on the reverse side of the rim; the largest measures approximately 1.5 x 0.5 cm wide. All pieces have small chips and small frying on the edges in places. They are overall in good condition and have good overall appearance. Condition report: As described in the catalog; 1st (with bird to the right handside of vase) : -body: restoration (with probably some plaster replacements) include: top section of vase which has been most probably broken in few pieces and restored (the restoration turned yellow and would need to be done again; area is approx. 9 x 3,5 cm.); one part of base within the tree-stump (triangle area approx. 4 x 6 cm.); the five branches with terminal sections (approx. 2,5 cm. long for the biggest one); another section within the tree-stump (a " knop " to the reverse) is also restored. The bird's beak with small fritting. -cover: small chips mainly to reverse of rim; the biggest is approx. 1 x 0,3 cm. wide, and two chips with small retouches. 2nd (with bird to the left handside of vase): -body: all branches and one section of top of tree-stump restored with possibly some plaster replacements (biggest restored area to one branch is approx. 4,5 cm. long.); two of which (restored branches) have been broken off and reglued. Restored area of the tree-stump is approx. 4 x 1,5 cm. wide. The bird's beak with small fritting. -cover: with five small chips to reverse of rim; the biggest is approx. 1,5 x 0,5 cm. wide. All pieces with small chips and small fritting to edges in places. They are overall in good condition and present well.
