The Dutch painter Louise "Lou" Loeber came into contact with many of the most important artistic movements of the early 20th century during her extensive travels. Cubism, Expressionism, De Stijl and Bauhaus have influenced her artistic work. In this landscape, which represents a region so familiar to her (she grew up in the coastal region of North Holland), she reduces her impressions to an extremely geometric simplicity and fills the scene with life with a vivid color palette.
