Since 2016, interest in Arnulf Rainer's work has experienced an unprecedented surge in both the Austrian and international art markets. Rainer's vision diverged from academic expectations, causing him to abandon his formal studies after only a few days-a decision that paid off in a career that has spanned seven decades. Rainer was awarded the Austrian State Prize and the Aragon-Goya Prize. Numerous exhibitions have been dedicated to his work, including a museum in Baden. In the present etching, his characteristic lines take center stage; the playful use of the ink's rich blue tones evokes an expression of the sublime.
