750 gold and platinum ring set with an unheated cushion-cut Kashmir sapphire weighing 3.669 carats according to SSEF report n°128715 dated 04/24/2023, surrounded by brilliant-cut diamonds (approx. 3.4 cts in total), finger 52- 12The island of Ceylon was the main source of sapphires, but over time other sources appeared, the most famous being Kashmir, whose sapphires are renowned for the brilliance and intensity of their blues. Located in northern India amidst the Himalayan mountains at an altitude of over 4,500 meters, the main mine only operated from 1882 to 1889. In the meantime, a few other sites were discovered with extremely low production. Because of their altitude, the mines are only operated for a few months of the year, and most of the deposits have become barren. Their exceptional rarity makes untreated Kashmir sapphires like the one on this ring remarkable and extremely desirable.
